The course discusses the different processes from the perspective of particle physics, including hospital psychrometrics, air changes requirement, level filtration, etc.
The course covers the production and fate of airborne microorganisms and how people can get infected and methods of control such as Legionella and COVID-19. Operational issues and their effect on the design of central utility plants for healthcare facilities are described. Part II of the course will define the ventilation system design requirements as per Standard ANSI/ ASHRAE/ ASHE 170-2017 including the compliance requirements.
