ASHRAE CTTC: High Performance Health Care Facilities Design Comply with ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE Std 170-2017

This course addresses the role of HVAC systems in helping to reduce Hospital Associated Infections (HAI), explaining airborne vs contact transmission. The course discusses the different processes from the perspective of particle physics, including hospital psychrometrics, air changes requirement, level filtration, etc.

The course covers the production and fate of airborne microorganisms and how people can get infected and methods of control such as Legionella and COVID-19. Operational issues and their effect on the design of central utility plants for healthcare facilities are described. Part II of the course will define the ventilation system design requirements as per Standard ANSI/ ASHRAE/ ASHE 170-2017 including the compliance requirements. General and specific requirements of HVAC design of all hospital rooms are all covered. Practising the design of particular rooms in the hospital will be carried.
