The popular Christmas in July event of the South African Institute of Refrigeration and Air Condition (SAIRAC) was once again paired with the Johannesburg branch’s annual general meeting (AGM) on 27 July.
The event took place at its usual Carver’s Restaurant where members and guests enjoyed a delicious buffet and some live entertainment. Almost 80 guests were in attendance for the AGM.
As part of the brief AGM formalities, centre chair Jaco Pieterse delivered the chairman’s report, after which the treasurer’s report followed and then the introduction of the new committee. As usual, the AGM was kept brief and to the point.
During his report, Pieterse officially welcomed everyone to the event and gave a quick overview of all the exciting activities the Johannesburg centre has been up to since the last AGM. From courses to site visits and golf days – it was a busy year and the centre has achieved a lot.
Pieterse also awarded ‘student of the year’ to Jurgen Olivier and ‘most diligent SAIRAC member’ to Roy Hannah for their involvement in centre activities during the past year.
He thanked his outgoing committee for their work before announcing the new team.
The new SAIRAC Johannesburg centre committee for the 2018 to 2019 year is as follows:
- Jaco Pieterse (chairman)
- Charel Marais (vice chairman)
- Grant Laidlaw (treasurer)
